Getting Started with Postle: Your First Post in 5 Minutes

Welcome to Postle! If you're reading this, you're probably tired of juggling multiple apps to schedule your social media content. We're building Postle to solve exactly that problem—one simple tool to schedule posts across all your platforms, without the complexity or price shock of enterprise tools.

This guide will walk you through what to expect when you sign up and how the scheduling workflow will work. Note: Postle is currently in beta. Join our waitlist to be among the first users.

Why Postle is Different

Before we dive in, here's what makes Postle special:

  • Fair pricing, forever: No surprise increases or hidden costs
  • Actually schedule videos: TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts from one upload
  • Works every time: Built with reliability as the #1 priority
  • Made for small businesses: No enterprise bloat, just what you need

Now, let's schedule your first post.

Step 1: Connect Your Social Accounts

First things first—you need to connect the social media accounts where you want to publish content.

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Accounts
  2. Click "Connect Account"
  3. Choose your platform (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Pinterest)
  4. Follow the OAuth flow to authorize Postle

Pro Tips for Account Connection

  • Instagram: Make sure you have a Business or Creator account (personal accounts can't use scheduling APIs)
  • TikTok: You'll need a TikTok Business account
  • YouTube: Connect the specific channel you want to post to
  • Facebook: You can connect multiple Pages from the same business account

Don't worry if you don't have all accounts yet—you can always add more later. Start with your most important platform.

Step 2: Open the Post Composer

Once you've connected at least one account, it's time to create your first post.

  1. Go to Dashboard > Calendar (or click the "New Post" button anywhere)
  2. The post composer will open

You'll see a clean, simple interface with everything you need to create engaging content.

Step 3: Write Your Content

Now for the fun part—creating your content!

Write Your Caption

Type or paste your content into the text editor. Postle will show you character counts for each platform in real-time, so you never accidentally exceed limits.

Character limits by platform:

  • Twitter/X: 280 characters
  • Instagram: 2,200 characters
  • Facebook: 63,206 characters (but aim for 200-300 for best engagement)
  • LinkedIn: 3,000 characters
  • TikTok: 2,200 characters
  • Pinterest: 500 characters

Step 4: Add Your Media

Visual content performs 10x better than text-only posts. Let's add some media:

  1. Click "Upload Media" or drag files into the upload zone
  2. Choose your images or videos

Video Upload Features

This is where Postle really shines. When you upload a video:

  • Auto-format detection: We'll tell you which platforms your video is optimized for
  • Format warnings: Get notified if your video isn't ideal for certain platforms
  • Multiple platforms: Upload once, schedule to TikTok, Reels, and Shorts simultaneously

Video format quick reference:

  • 9:16 (vertical): Perfect for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts
  • 16:9 (horizontal): Best for YouTube videos, LinkedIn, Twitter
  • 1:1 (square) or 4:5 (portrait): Great for Instagram feed, Facebook

Image Guidelines

  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP
  • Max file size: 10MB per image
  • Recommended size: 1080x1080px for square posts, 1080x1350px for portrait

Step 5: Select Your Platforms

Now choose where you want to publish this post:

  1. Toggle the switches for each platform you want to post to
  2. Postle will automatically validate your content against each platform's requirements

If you see a warning icon, don't worry—just hover over it to see what needs to be adjusted (usually character count or video format).

Platform-Specific Customization

Need different captions for different platforms? Click "Customize per platform" to write unique content for each. This is perfect when:

  • Twitter needs a shorter, punchier version
  • LinkedIn needs a more professional tone
  • TikTok needs hashtags and trending sounds mentioned

Step 6: Choose When to Post

You have three scheduling options:

Post Now

Publish immediately to all selected platforms. Great for time-sensitive content or when you're ready to go live right away.

Schedule for Later

Pick a specific date and time. Postle's calendar picker makes it easy to visualize when your content will go out.

Optimal posting times are shown in the scheduler based on your audience's engagement patterns. Look for the green indicators!

Save as Draft

Not ready to schedule yet? Save it as a draft and come back later. Drafts are auto-saved every 30 seconds, so you won't lose your work.

Step 7: Review and Schedule

Before you hit that schedule button:

  1. Preview your post: Click the eye icon to see how it will look on each platform
  2. Double-check your schedule time: Make sure the date, time, and timezone are correct
  3. Verify platform selections: Confirm you're posting to the right accounts

Once you're happy, click "Schedule Post" and you're done!

What Happens Next?

After scheduling your post:

  1. Confirmation: You'll see a success message and the post appears on your calendar
  2. Publishing: At the scheduled time, Postle will automatically publish to all selected platforms
  3. Notification: You'll get an email confirmation once the post is live (or if there were any issues)
  4. Analytics: After 24-48 hours, engagement metrics will start appearing in your analytics dashboard

Your First Post Checklist

  • Connected at least one social media account
  • Written engaging content (with AI help if needed)
  • Added eye-catching media (image or video)
  • Selected target platforms
  • Chosen optimal posting time
  • Previewed the post
  • Scheduled successfully

Common First-Time Questions

Can I edit a scheduled post?

Yes! Just click the post on your calendar, make your changes, and click "Update." The changes will apply to all platforms unless you've customized content per platform.

What if I need to delete a scheduled post?

Click the post on your calendar and select "Delete." If it hasn't published yet, it will be removed from the schedule. Already published? You'll need to delete directly from each platform.

How do I know if my post published successfully?

You'll receive an email notification, and the post status on your calendar will change from "Scheduled" to "Published." If there's an issue, the status will show "Failed" with details about what went wrong.

Can I schedule multiple posts at once?

Absolutely! Use the bulk upload feature or the calendar's multi-select mode to schedule several posts in one session. Perfect for batch content creation.

Next Steps

Now that you've scheduled your first post, here are some next steps to level up your social media game:

  1. Connect more accounts: Add all your social platforms to schedule from one place
  2. Batch create content: Set aside time each week to schedule multiple posts at once
  3. Explore the calendar: Drag and drop to reschedule, use filters to organize by platform
  4. Check analytics: See which posts perform best and adjust your strategy
  5. Set up categories: Organize your content by theme, campaign, or content type

Tips for Success

Start small: Don't feel pressured to post everywhere at once. Master one platform, then expand.

Consistency matters: It's better to post 3 times per week consistently than 10 times one week and nothing the next.

Engage authentically: Scheduling posts saves time, but don't forget to engage with comments and messages in real-time.

Analyze and adjust: Use Postle's analytics to see what's working and do more of that.
